Cole Farms LLC, Fred Cole, Rt 1 Box 425, Perkins, OK 74059, cedith@okstate.edu, 918-374-2254 (home), 405-612-4360 (cell).

We have been raising Black Angus cattle since 1978. Black Angus is known the world over for quality and tenderness.

In the early 80s we began establishing clover in our pastures to produce forage for our cows to graze and hay for winter. The clover produces enough nitrogen that we seldom need commercial fertilizer. It has been several years since we have used pesticides or herbicides on our pastures.

We are now taking the next step and fattening calves on our farm. Our grass fattening program includes the calves we raise on the farm and animals we buy from other producers directly and at auction. we select animals that will weigh between 1000 pounds at the end of a 60-90day grazing period. The animals are always on grass pasture, clover when available, and receive clover hay. The animals are not fed grain products or antibiotics nor do they receive any growth hormones during this fattening period.

The only extra feed they receive is a soy based protein suppliment. The pastures these animals graze have not been sprayed with herbicide for more than 3yrs and have not been sprayed with pesticides in over 20yrs.
